For the past seven years the City has not had to increase electric rates and unfortunately we’re not able to continue this trend going into the New Year. CPS recently increased the City’s costs for purchasing wholesale power by approximately 22%. The CPS increase will add roughly $1.4 million in wholesale costs to the City's budget. The increase in electric utility costs will begin impacting your utility bills in February. In January, customers will receive a notice in their utility bill regarding the increased electric costs. Below a table that outlines the average rate impact on utility customers based on an average KWH. If you have any questions regarding the new rate structure call Utility billing 830-426-3378.
